Daniel Fabricius
Daniel Fabricius has been Director of Bands at Owego Free Academy since 1989 where he has developed an outstanding instrumental music program that features a concert band, two jazz bands, and various chamber music ensembles. His professional life is dedicated to teaching at Owego Free Academy and also at Binghamton University (BU). After serving as the percussion instructor at BU for twenty years, in 2012 he accepted the appointment to serve as conductor of the Binghamton University Wind Symphony. In addition to his busy teaching schedule, he is also highly regarded in the Southern Tier region as a percussion soloist and ensemble player. He has been a member of the Binghamton Philharmonic percussion section since 1982 and as a free-lance percussionist he has accompanied many national touring artists.
Mr. Fabricius has served the New York State School Music Association as an All-State Percussion adjudicator for many years. He also serves NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) as the Instrumental Jazz Reviews editor of The School Music News and is the Instrumental Jazz editor for the NYSSMA Manual. He has a long association with Ithaca College and has trained over thirty-five student teachers from the IC School of Music. During the summer he can be found teaching percussion and conducting the jazz ensemble at the Ithaca College Intermediate Division Summer Music Academy. Mr. Fabricius has presented many clinics at music conventions and conferences and often serves as a guest conductor for honor band festivals.
