Description

Dedicated to the memory of Gregory Charnon, my friend and an outstanding percussionist, this book was written to follow and supplement Contest Solos For The Young Snare Drummer and More Contest Solos For The Young
Snare Drummer, which range in difficulty from grades 1-3. The solos in this collection are more demanding technically, rhythmically and musically, and will provide the intermediate snare drummer with challenges in a wide variety of musical styles including rudimental, classical, jazz, Latin and rock. The solos may be used for recital, contest, group or private study. When possible, instruction with a competent percussion teacher is highly recommended.

Metronome markings (tempi) are included in accordance with the style of each solo, and it is recommended that the player strive to achieve and maintain the indicated pace. Stickings are indicated where called for in the style (such as in rudimental style) or when they enhance the musical phrase and articulation (as in the jazz style).
