Sammy Nestico had a remarkable music career that spanned eight decades. He left a lasting impression on thousands of jazz lovers, jazz educators and jazz students. His work with the Count Basie Orchestra from 1970 – 1984 defined the big band music of the time and his outreach into education and desire to spread good music are legendary. Kendor Music is proud to have some of Sammy’s compositions for college and professional bands as well as music written specifically for middle school and high school groups in our catalog.
Sammy Nestico Young Jazz Series
The music in this series is at the Grade 2 – 3 level. Sammy wrote these pieces specifically for younger jazz musicians and he carefully crafted each chart regarding ranges and solo opportunities.
Sammy Nestico Premium Series
These are some of Sammy’s most famous works for upper-level groups and include many charts he recorded with the Basie band during the 1970s – 1980s. There are also compositions that he recorded under his own name on Albums like Dark Orchid, Night Flight and This is the Moment. Classic big band music that has stood the test of time.
