Blue Horizon

Tuneful and melodic, “Blue Horizon” opens with a section in C major and later modulates to F. All the sections of the ensemble have a chance to shine as the melodic material is developed and shaped throughout the composition.

“Look to the place where the sky meets the sea, for the blue horizon is where your dreams will be.”

Pondering life and one’s goals is something we all do. Sometimes music, and a piece such as this, can facilitate our reflections on life. Written in the keys of C and F, with both major and minor modalities, and in 4/4 time throughout, everyone has a melody line and the opportunity to reinforce lyrical playing, full bows, slurs, hooked bows, arpeggios, pizzicato, divisi, some 7th chord harmonies, and easy rhythms. This beautiful piece will capture the imagination of your students and audience and leave them wanting more.
