Program Notes

This is a very cheerful medley of The First Noel and O Tannenbaum. It is always a bit of a challenge to write an arrangement of traditional carols…it is obviously important to maintain the integrity of the melody, but the arrangement must also present enough new material to make the music sound fresh and interesting. These two songs work very well together as they share the 3/4 time signature and the melodies compliment each other nicely. Each of the carols is presented on its own and then work together in a little holiday kind of mash-up. I hope that you, your students and the audience will enjoy this light-hearted arrangement, and it helps to create a festive mood for your performance.
