Program Notes

Written with beginners in mind, “Seafarer’s Waltz” is a fun, approachable way for students to get the feel of a ¾ time signature. Using simple rhythms that avoid bow lifts and “backwards” bowing, this is an approachable, evocative character piece in E minor, perfect for Halloween but also appropriate for spring concerts. Notes of the G, D, and A strings are used with mixed finger patterns, providing valuable experience with note reading over a wide range. An optional Piano part is included for additional support.
