Description

New from the pen of George Shutack comes the exciting new feature for two Trumpets. The flowing melodic line is set over a strong Spanish groove. With a floating ¾ feel as a foundation, the strong melody couples perfectly with the solid ensemble writing to create an abundance of teaching opportunities. A perfect change up for any program or festival.

Program Notes

The rhythm section and the Bones set up the feel of this chart from the opening bar. At bar 9 the Trumpet duet states the melody. As the chart builds, the ensemble enters to support the theme. Pay close attention to all articulations. Care should be taken so that the ensemble does not overshadow the duet.

The Saxes take over the melody at bar 49 and should approach this in a flowing manner. The duet returns to lead us to the solo section. This section may be opened up further if desired.

Following the solos, the duet returns with the variations. The two soloists should be careful to keep all of the lines in strict time so that they will line up with the ensemble parts.
