Sanchie Bobrow

Sanchie Bobrow, began her composition studies with Noel DaCosta at The Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Composition from the Aaron Copland School of Music, City University of New York, where she continued composition studies with composers Hugo Weisgall, George Perle and Bruce Saylor. Following graduate school, she continued her studies with composer, Katherine Hoover. Her violin studies began with Margaret Graves and continued with Joseph Kovacs and Ruth Waterman.

Ms. Bobrow’s compositions have been performed at the Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall, CAMI Hall, Symphony Space, the Department of Cultural Affairs, Emanu-El Midtown YM-YWHA, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at the Citi-Corp Center and Snug Harbor Cultural Center. She has composed incidental music for The Camden Shakespeare Company in Camden, Maine, The Riverside Shakespeare Company in New York, Ballet Trebizond, Theater Sangreal, On Stage Children Productions and for Staten Island OutLOUD’s presentation of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. She has also composed music for the films American Car, Bumper and While I’ve Got You Here by Burnt Danish Productions. Her music has been presented by The Staten Island Chamber Music Players, Musical Chairs Chamber Ensemble, Downtown Music Productions, the Richmond Choral Society Youth Chorus, the Staten Island Philharmonic and Composer’s Concordance. Ms. Bobrow has been the recipient of grants from Meet the Composer and the New York State Council on the Arts.

Ms. Bobrow is also a Suzuki trained violin and orchestra instructor who has been on the faculty of The School for Strings in New York City since 1988. Many of the pieces that she’s composed for string orchestra have been for the students of the various orchestras at The School for Strings.

Ms. Bobrow is the founder and Director of The Mighty String Demons, an ensemble of young violinists who have been performing within and serving their Staten Island community since 1995.
