Luca Lucchetta

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, he graduated with excellent marks from the Venice Conservatory after studying with G. Bacchi (principal clarinetist at Venice theatre “La Fenice” for 35 years). He then continued his clarinet studies with A. Pay at the International Higher Academy of Music in Biella, Italy.

Luca now has an active career in the performance of chamber music, which has given him the opportunity to play with an array of famous musicians – P. Gallois, C. Zacharias, M. Flaksman, M. Bourgue, W. Boeykens, etc. He has also performed with the orchestras of Naples, Venice, Milan (La Scala), Parma and Genoa under the direction of such greats as Maazel, Askenazy, Bertini, and Oren. At present he is principal clarinetist and soloist of the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto.

He founded Ensemble dell’Arcimboldo, a group specializing in performance with ancient instruments. Luca also teaches at the Portogruaro Music School in Venice, where with his students he founded the clarinet choir Clarino Ensemble, which recently recorded and released a critically-acclaimed CD entitled “Clarinamente.”
