Janice L. McAllister

Janice L. McAllister, a string specialist in the award-winning orchestra program of the Logan City (UT) School District for many years, now teaches with the Mountain West String Academy, as well as maintaining an active studio of private violin, viola, cello and piano students. She is also Co-Director of the Cache Valley New Horizons Orchestra for adults. An active performer, she has played with the Utah Festival Opera Orchestra, the Cache Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, Northern Utah Symphony, American Festival Orchestra, Camerata Werdenfels in Garmisch, Germany, and the Classical Music Festival Orchestra in Eisenstadt, Austra. Ms. McAllister has often served as a faculty member of the Utah State University Summer Music Clinic and as a string adjudicator/clinician. She has been a presenter at state and national music educators conferences. In 1998 she was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Utah Chapter of the American String Teachers Association and was honored by the Utah Music Educators Association with their Superior Accomplishment Award for the 2002-2003 school year. In 2004-06 she served as president of the Utah State Chapter of ASTA with NSOA. They honored her with their 2014 Educator of the Year Award in 2014.
