Jane Lamb

Originally from Houston, Texas, Jane Lamb began taking piano lessons at the age of six. She became a church organist during high school and her organ career has continued since. She has also been a church choir director and a children’s choir director. Jane holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston (TX) in Music Education with organ as her primary instrument. Jane began teaching elementary music K-5 in 1976, and completed Levels I, II, and III of her Orff Certification at Southern Methodist University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

She retired as an elementary music teacher from Klein ISD in Texas with a career spanning 37 years. During her career she taught Music K-5, accompanied the school choir, and directed the Schultz Shining Star Orffestra. Jane was recognized by the Klein School Board as an outstanding educator. The Spring Branch Education Foundation and the Houston Chronicle honored Jane with the Crystal Award for making a difference in the lives of students.

The Schultz Shining Star Orffestra was under the direction of Mrs. Jane Lamb from 1995 to 2013. Some of the past outstanding performances of the Orffestra include the Texas Music Educators Association Orff Reception, the opening ceremony for Drum Corp International with Percussion One, the Klein ISD Convocation Ceremony, the Pep Rally for Education, the Texas Music Educators Association Elementary Invited Ensemble in 2008 and 2011, the Children’s Music Festival of Houston, and the Gulf Coast Orff Association Orff Festivals. The Orffestra won trophies many times at the Children’s Music Festival of Houston for the most outstanding performance by an Orff ensemble.

Jane has also been a presenter for the Texas Music Educators Association on many occasions, the American Orff Schulwerk Association National Convention, the Gulf Coast Orff Association, the Missouri Music Educators Association, the Waco Independent School District, the Texas Association for the Education of the Young Child, and the Early Childhood Winter Conference. She has also taught an Orff class for many choir camps.

Jane has six other Orff publications available: The Rhythm of the Seasons and Holidays, The Note Book, Island Fun with Orff and Drum, Orffin’ Around at the Magical Zoo, Kutamba, and It’s a Great Day for Music!

After retirement Jane and her husband, Jerry, moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In Colorado, Jane directed a middle school Percussion Ensemble and also directed an Orff Camp for several summers. Jane and Jerry recently moved to Grove City, Pennsylvania to be near family.
