Jamie Roth

A native of South Florida, Jamie Roth is a highly accomplished composer, arranger, educator, and woodwind performer. He currently serves as a Director of Bands in South Florida, where he has taught instrumental students from grades 3 through 12. Roth holds a Bachelor of Music from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Studio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami.

Following his graduate studies, Roth began his teaching career at Florida Atlantic University, where he taught music theory, orchestration, and music technology. He also drew on his Drum Corps experience, working as a freelance marching band drill writer, field technician, and show music arranger for various high schools. Since 2004, he has been a National Board Certified Educator, and in 2007, he was recognized with the Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award by the Florida Atlantic University Department of Education. That same year, he was named an Emerging Leader by the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA).

Roth has held leadership roles within the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), serving as both Secretary and Chairman of District 15 (Broward County). As a seasoned FBA adjudicator, he evaluates performances in Solo and Ensemble, Concert Bands, and Jazz Music categories. Outside of education, Roth is an active performer, regularly playing with rock/funk horn bands, wind ensembles, pit orchestras, and jazz big bands throughout South Florida.

In addition to his performing career, Roth is a skilled audio and studio producer, having collaborated with renowned engineers and produced numerous projects at prominent recording studios. He is a published composer and arranger whose works are frequently commissioned by school and professional ensembles, including wind, pop/rock, and jazz bands of all levels. His compositions have recently been performed by prestigious groups such as the United States Airmen of Note and the Henry Mancini Big Band at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. Notably, his arrangements have also been featured in performances by legendary jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker.

Roth’s music, known for its tuneful, engaging, and accessible qualities, is published by both Excelcia and Kendor Music Publishing and is widely performed in educational and professional band settings. As Director of Bands, Roth leverages his composition and arranging expertise to develop his ensembles, helping them reach their highest potential. He is an active member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Jazz Education Network (JEN), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), and the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers.
