Hilton Kean Jones
Hilton Kean Jones is a composer of both commercial and classical music. He is retired from his position as Professor of Music at the University of South Florida School of Music (Tampa), where he taught music composition, computer applications in music, orchestration and various graduate and undergraduate theory courses. He was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus. He continues his work as a freelance composer, producer, and performer.
He is published by Kendor Music, Dabash Kephim, Concordia, Logia, SKQ, Hope, WTM, and SheetMusicDirect/SheetMusicPlus. His works and performances appear on Capstone, C. Alan, HoneyRock, Crest, ESM and Bacchanal Bay recording labels. His works include sound tracks for videos and films by award winning film directors, including Will Hindle and Richard Protovin, Jamey Landry, Vince Ahern, Gene Youngblood, and William Buston. Jones is an ASCAP composer with commissions from Academy of the Holy Names, Palladium 2007 Encore Series, Congregation Schaarai Zedek, the Eastman School of Music, and the George Eastman House & Beaumont Newhall. Mr. Jones was Music Director of 9 NFL Super Bowl Pregame Shows from Super Bowl XXVI (1992) through Super Bowl XXXV (2001) and Music Coordinator for Super Bowl XXXVI (2002) Pregame Show.
He holds a M.M. (Master of Music in Composition/Organ, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York, 1967-68, Music Composition and Organ; additional course work 1968-70; major professors: Samuel Adler and Wayne Barlow, composition; Russell Saunders, organ) and a B.M., (Bachelor of Music in Composition/Organ, University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music Stockton, California, 1965-67, Music Composition and Organ; major professors: Stanworth Beckler, composition; Charles Schilling, organ.)
