Earl North
Earl North is a graduate of the Army School of Music (1952) and the Conservatory of Music at Capital University (1959 BM Music) in Columbus, Ohio. He later pursued graduate studies at Indiana University. His prominent bassoon teachers are Rosemary Curtin Hite (1955-59), Roy Houser (1959-60) and William Polisi (1967-1973).
As a professional bassoonist, Mr. North’s performance credits include the U.S. 7th Army Symphony Orchestra (1953-55), the Columbus Concert Band (1955-58), the Memphis (TN) Sinfonietta (1959-60), the Jacksonville (FL) Symphony (1960), the Vermont State Symphony (1964-1974), and the Aurora Woodwind Quintet (1977-81).
Earl’s experience as a music educator includes 18 years in the Vermont public schools and eight years teaching bassoon, recorder and Renaissance reeds performance at the college level. For more than twenty years he has also maintained an active schedule as a private studio teacher, clinician and recitalist.
