David Tovey

David Tovey has 30 years of teaching experience including; Suzuki Talent Education, keyboard classes for adults and children, public school music, and private lessons in violin and viola. Dr. Tovey currently teaches keyboard and strings at Widefield Elementary school in the Widefield School district in Colorado Springs (CO).

As a performer David is experienced as a violinist, violist, and vocalist. He has performed professionally both as a violinist and violist with the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, and more recently with Opera Theater of the Rockies. He currently studies voice with the renowned Martile Rowland.

Dr. Tovey has written a number of musical compositions for string orchestras, and has recorded several albums, the most recent being Heart’s Desire.

David holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Music in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Doctor of Arts specializing in music theory and composition from the University of Northern Colorado.
