Betty Dardess

Founder and former executive director of the Shoals Symphony Orchestra and its affiliate youth and children’s orchestras, she held undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education from the University of Alabama and Birmingham Southern College. A composer and arranger of vocal, piano, and string music for many years, Dardess devoted much of her time to the publication of her works for school-age musicians.
