Bert Ligon
Bert Ligon is director of jazz studies at the University of South Carolina where he directs the jazz big bands, teaches jazz theory, improvisation and arranging. He has music published music for jazz big bands, jazz string ensembles (available from Alfred, Kendor and Latham), steel drum ensembles, and chamber orchestras. Ligon has published three jazz improvisation books including Jazz Theory Resources Vol. 1 & 2, Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony, and Comprehensive Technique for the Jazz Musician. Ligon plays piano, guitar, third base.
