Andy Masters has been orchestra director in the St. Charles Community Unity School District 303 where he has been composing and arranging string pieces for instruction and performance since 2004. Growing up in Columbus, Ohio in a musical family where almost everyone plays an instrument, he started playing violin in his school orchestra at the age of 9 and trumpet at age 10. He went on to study music at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music with a double concentration in violin and trumpet with the hopes of becoming a music teacher. Mr. Masters earned his Master’s degree in music education with an emphasis in orchestral conducting from Northwestern University in 2010. In addition to his duties as orchestra teacher in St. Charles, he also is Associate Conductor with the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra where he directs the Prelude and Sinfonia Orchestras. Mr. Masters loves making the most of his students’ musical journey and seeing them reach their full potential. He lives with his wife Jenny (also a violinist) and three children, Charlie, John, and Clara.
