Alan Woy
Dr. Alan Woy is a Professor Emeritus of the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam, where he taught clarinet and woodwind techniques, coached chamber music and conducted bands from 1971-2007. He was Principal Clarinet with the Orchestra of Northern New York for more than 25 years and also a member of the Potsdam Woodwind Quintet, Potsdam Clarinet Quartet, and Northern Symphonic Winds. Since 2008 he has conducted the Eastman Rochester New Horizons Clarinet Choir and taught at the Eastman Community Music School. He has been a member of the Onyx Clarinet Quartet since 2010. The Onyx Clarinet Quartet has performed actively in the United States and Canada. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1967, and his Master of Music in Performance (1969) and Doctor of Music Arts (1979) from the University of Colorado.
