Program Notes
This arrangement of “O Little Town of Bethlehem”, is scored for developing bands. The chart features a happy, infectious Latin groove, interesting harmonies, richly scored ensemble passages, and a solo for Alto Saxophone 1. There is a suggested, written solo provided; nonetheless, encourage your soloist to improvise. The changes are approachable: Emi7 to A9 (alto key), and the solo may be played using one scale throughout: E, F#, G, A, B, C# and D (alto key). The Bass and Piano parts are written out with chords cued and the chart may be played by as few as three Saxophones (AAT), two Trumpets, one Trombone and three rhythm (PBD) or any combination all the way up to a full big band. There are also optional parts for Flute, Clarinet, Horn in F and Tuba. This fun version of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” is ideal for holiday concerts. I hope you and your band enjoy this arrangement!
