Program Notes

There are so many great recordings of the famous song – I had an excellent time listening to some fantastic recordings. I checked out everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Willie Nelson to (of course) the master, Ray Charles. Since this arrangement is intended for younger musicians, I decided not to make it a crazy, driving 12/8 feel but landed on a moderately slowish swing that will allow the band to show off their ensemble skills.
