Program Notes
“Capsize” evokes images of stormy seas, waves crashing overboard, and ships lost to the dangerous waters. At M.25, you may try having your students use a Bartók pizzicato on the accented pizzicato notes to create even more drama and replicate the sound of wood snapping. Cellos and Basses should use strong, articulated bow strokes, particularly in the repeated quarter-note sections. Encourage your students to dig in and keep the energy driving all the way to the end of the piece!
